The Nokia N70 is almost identical to the recently announced Nokia 6680 in every respect, except that the N70 comes with a 2 megapixel digital camera and greater support for sharing the photos you take with others.Apart from the upgraded camera, the N70 is extremely difficult to tell apart from the other 3G handset. With the same size screen at 176x208 pixels in 262,000 colours, a similar keypad layout and sliding function to protect the camera, similar media playback capabilities, Symbian Series 60 operating system, MMC expandable memory, Bluetooth, email client and web browser.

Although there are differences here and there, essentially the N70 seems to be exactly the same handset, just with a different camera.

It looks a little smarter though.

Nokia this month added a new mobile phone with pen input and handwriting recognition capability optimised for messaging for Chinese input users in the Asian market. The 3108 is the successor to the 6108 pen-input phone previously released.

Created by designers in Nokia's Product Creation Centre in Beijing, the Nokia 3108 has a Chinese-motivated design inspired by the futuristic warrior theme intended to appeal to the younger segment of Chinese language users. The phone supports tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz functionality, a high resolution colour display, a built-in touch pad, Lunar Calendar, an enhanced phonebook, themed wallpapers, a range of polyphonic ringtones, animated screensavers, games, MMS, Java and an xHTML browser.

The Nokia 3108 is expected to be commercially available in select Asia Pacific markets during the fourth quarter of 2003.

The Nokia 3108 is designed with a built-in touch pad and easy-grip stylus to recognise the handwriting both Chinese and Latin characters for message sending. The phone supports both handwriting and keymat input. To utilise the handwriting recognition feature, lifting the keymat will reveal a built-in touch pad which allows the entry of both Chinese and Latin characters.

Content includes themed wallpapers and animated screensavers which are specially designed by Ma Wing Shing, a famous Chinese comic artist. The phone also includes a new pre-installed game called Empire Mahjong.

The Nokia 3108 can be used with a Nokia Fun Camera, a stand-alone VGA camera with its own viewfinder, flash and power supply as well as 1 MB of memory to store up to 50 images. The Nokia 3108 can also be used with the Nokia Radio Headset.

The Nokia 3108 weighs 93 grams, a talktime of 2 to 6 hours hours and a standby time of 150 to 360 hours....

Another new handset was recently announced by Nokia. The 3200 appears to be a budget version of the 7250i and shares many of the same features.

The biggest difference is the 3200's support for EDGE data, an entry level 3G data system. And while it gains EDGE data, it loses some memory.

Whereas the 7250i has over 4MB of memory, the 3200 only has 1MB free for user files and applications. But for a budget camera that features an integrated camera and EDGE data, that isn't so bad.

The other new thing that Nokia is introducing with this phone is cut out covers.

You can print your own designs out and then clip them inside the transparent cover in order to completely customise your phone.

Along with other devices such as the 7700 that were recently shown in France, Nokia introduced a new full keyboard equipped 6800 series device, the 6820.

While physically smaller than the original 6800, it packs quite a bit of new functionality inside - including a built-in camera and Bluetooth.

The new triband GSM handset is also EDGE data capable, for even quicker access to corporate email - including support for the popular BlackBerry email service.

This is no simple feat, considering that the original 6800 was 22g heavier, 12mm longer, and a few mm wider and thicker.

We were hoping for a new 65k color display, but it looks like we will have to wait a while for that.
